Mobile players vs desktop players?

Hi all.

This is my first post on this forum, so at the beginning I would like to thank you GFX47 for creating such a fantastic application. Great job! The amount of work you have already devoted to this is enormous. I am really impressed how well done it is.

My question is simple:

Do mobile players AI play against desktop players AI?

I believe it is like that at the moment. In my opinion it is unfair. Try to implement complex algorithm on small smartphone screen (I am having problems with this). You get another layer of complexity when you play mobile.

My proposition is as follows: Add information on user account if it is mobile or desktop and try to pair for battles mobile accounts when possible. Furthermore you could show in statistics if account is desktop or mobile.

Yes.

Yes it is a sort of disadvantage if you play on a smartphone, but it takes only a bit more time to develop the idea(with a pc you could improve in 8 days, while with a smartphone you need 12 for example). Surely on a tablet is better. There are many players that play with a 5.5 smartphone.

And I would not advise to differentiate users because the user base, especially in high leagues, is not so much.

Surely the disadvantage is not like FPS games, where a player with mouse and keyboard can just obliterate a player with a touchscreen. Here it is more about the time needed to develop something.

For example with alpha 5.3.1 (december 2016) with my smartphone 5.5 I got up to the top20 without excessive problems.

And I strongly suggest a tablet of at least 7 inches.

Sub-Trees should let you make complex trees without too much lag...

Unless you're like me and play on a 5.5" phone without using Sub-Trees.

P.S. I also play on a different account on a 7.9" Tablet Device though.

I use exclusively PC as it has "Delete" key :)

Never thought of that. Must be better for you. :)

I am using Sub-Trees but the code it is still getting big. Not as big as big yours (pretty impressive).. for now.

I have 5.5" phone and I have already managed to delete my whole AI two times by clicking wrong delete button (not best User Experience). Is there "undo" option somewhere? Now I am creating copy before editing all the time :).

Of course there is! Didn't you know?

This is a good approach.

Unfortunately the editor so far is pretty rough on the copy/paste/undo/redo function but will be expanded later.

Personally, I don't really think that mobile players are in any disadvantage making AIs with the exceptance because of lag. Excluding lag, I find it easier for me playing on my phone than on my laptop

Where is the undo option? I do not see it anywhere?

Playing is easier, but implementing algorithm is more difficult. You have small screen, using mouse on desktop is easier then your thick fingers on mobile.. at least it is in my case :).

The Undo option is there in the Roadmap. :ugeek:

I will disagree on that. There is no balancing issue between mobile and desktop players as far as gameplay goes, so I don't think separating the player contingent (which is small enough as it is already) is a good idea.

I play only on my smartphone and the is one annoying difference, the lag.

You create the algorithms in your head. The implementation is just clicking and swiping.
