Could we have a debug option to fully downgrade to the basic ad version?

Oh hey, I might be able to explain the whole ad request thing (although I might just be 100% wrong, idk). Gladiabots has since the beginning of 9.x (and maybe sometime before then) has requested and downloaded ads in order to be played later. Literally all of the data (from the video to the URL) is set up and requested far in advance. However, starting a video means actually watching in, and considering that gladiabots interacts with the downloading stuff much more often and new apps and ads comes out all the time, I think it makes it much more likely to make sense that you have 21 thousand requests and only 400 starts (not many players so I think 400 starts kinda lines up and might even be a high number)

Saw that long ago, but answer my question any way. How much do you get for each AD?

IMO the main advantage of ads is not the money, but the nag-factor and the growing community. Friends are more likely to install and keep it. If they get addicted they buy it. Just my theory.

Hmm... So I won't be helping much by watching lots of ADs. :(

I agree with this. Ads are great to get one annoyed and finally to get one to buy the game.

I already regret this.

But why?

People can play for free if they are not that much interested but at least make "mass". Then the ones that are not so convinced can be hooked after 10, 100, 1000 games and finally buy the game. It gets faster with annoying ads.

The ads tip the ones not so convinced to buy the game (or to be really patient).

Also wait a bit before reverting the change, that the changes in activity of the playerbase do not appear overnight.

I meant adding something in a game to annoy players.

I think it's fine. I often both full versions to get rid of ads. That's okay

Ah, that was my poor explanation. The idea is that the ad is a small annoying part of the game (like when you listen ads from spotify). Small because hopefully the time between ads is not too short.

This lets a player, that is convinced that the game is good, to buy it since it is cheap.

Other players, that are a bit miserly instead, will go happily through ads to enjoy the game. Although I think that slowly they will realize that paying just 3 (or 5 or 10) euro to remove the ads completely and play faster*, so maybe they will play 500 to 2000 games before buying the game.

It does not matter, it is a win-win . They play, so the game does not look too slow. Players that will find the game interesting will pay, so they will contribute also financially to the game. (already the contribution in time - playing - is a huge plus until gladiabots will be full of players)

And when gladiabots will have some sort of large success (it is already a success for me), be prepared. A lot of clones will pop up.

* play faster is achieved when there are more players and therefore one has a lot of queued games waiting to be picked, so it is a circle.

You could remove the ads but keep the difference between basic and pro version. No pro features, only 5 or 10 multiplayer games a day?

I don't think forbidding players to play would help in getting more available opponents.

Then only restrict the pro features and add one after the other?
