Idea for promoting this game via schools

Has anyone tried marketing this game at schools as well?

I'm talking primary/early secondary level. (say 9-14)

The AI editor is a great primer for AI programming and is incredibly easy to pick up. Plus the game is currently very cheap, which schools would love, and the kids will love the fact that after they create their AI they get to see it in action in the form of robots blowing each other up.

I think it would also help with word of mouth and the game is already good to go for that purpose. (Well it might be preferable to wait until private matches as the teachers will probably want their pupils to compete against each other as they can then compare the AI's afterwards so the pupils can see why one won)

Word of mouth always wins, but for school I guess one should provide more organized material. It is alreaddy great to cover basic boolean logic, visiting trees, basic "stateful" actions and so on.

Actually this documentation is a bit lacking.

I have plans for education if everything runs smoothly after the release.
Several teachers already approached me for that and they have indeed specific needs I can't cover right now.

I think the part where game is free -> Missions and some training -> can be used for education. But for education it needs to be organised in more precise manner and/or some editor available for teachers to present different concepts like "boundary tests" etc.

So yes, the game definitely has good material for education.

And if you look at the way how the tree is resolved, that is one of the ways how actually current AIs work and make decisions - for example IBM Watson Conversation Engine - either GFX47 has stolen idea from them or vice versa :)

My main inspiration is the behavior tree system used in most game AIs today.
Gladiabots system is a very simplified version of it.
Kind of a mix between this and a simple if/then/else pattern.
