[Alpha 10] The new "free to play" model on Android

Alpha 10 will introduce a new way for me to monetize the game on Android.

Since Alpha 7.9, the game was using a "free to try" model: players could play a bit of the early game and then pay if they wanted to continue.

From Alpha 10, the game will use a "free to play" model:

Practice mode
Each time the player completes a practice mission, he will be asked to either buy the "pro version" of the game or watch a video ad to play the next one:

Career mode

Every 10 career matches, the player will be asked to either buy the "pro version" of the game or watch a video ad to continue playing:

All matches (ranked, unranked and private) are counted in the "every 10 career matches" loop.
The number of free matches is subject to changes and A/B testing.

Pro features
Test mode and private matches are now "pro features".
It means they are only accessible to players who bought the pro version.

Each feature can be tested during a single session though.

More features will become pro in the future, like cross device/platform sync.

Next
Visual customization is my next move on the monetization topic.
More details coming soon...

nice. I full agree. "buying" private matches is of great appeal or also removing ads.

Ads: they work because they are annoying.

I hate what I'm doing right now but lets hope it will help build up the community...

From experience: it will.

Every game / community is different, nothing is certain.

Awesome. I think you're on the right way. Good idea to lock private matches.

Exactly. I know very well that it is not wanted. I mean even a popup (not even an ad) a la "fastkeys" would be annoying enough but still let's see. If it brings the activity around 1000 games global once again, that would be worth it imo.

The 10 free games were enough to get me hooked. You make an awesome game!

Corrected the original post, actually all matches (ranked, unranked and private) are counted in the "every 10 career matches" loop.

Are private matches possible in the basic version?

Or not? (Beside one single session where one coult try them.)

They are not available in the free version.

So this:

should be:?

No, as you can play some private matches during a test session.

Then please add a "This is a Pro Feature. You can only try this ONCE before buying the game." dialog box. Because if I mistakenly used up my ONE SINGLE chance to test a feature, I would immediately uninstall the game. (Talking in general sense.)

What's your player name?
If you already bought the game and still see the "buy pro version" buttons, it could be a bug in the purchase restoration process that someone else already reported.
I'm currently working on a fix.
