I think, even without having these more special and unique maps, the random generator would be a big improvement since you dont know already at the beginning of the map versus a certain opponent, that you are going to loose or win. Also we will get rid of highly map specialised AIs. In my opinion it will make the game much better and the random map generator will get improved over time. I am looking forward to it.

I see two possible ways to make maps like Barred Spiral and CoD easier to generate:
1. Procedural generation - i.e. predefined groups of resources, bots set in straight lines or curved lines defined as some y=f(x) or radius=f(angle) equations, etc.
2. Evolution (genetic algorithms) - i.e. after every match players vote how they like the map and then this map is slightly modified (if they like it) or replaced by new purely random map (if they don't). This way they would get more maps they like.

I disagree. As long as we can place specific AIs on the specific bots (imo the best and most balanced way to handle things), adjusting for the specific map isn't hard. And the winner of an outright battle barely differs from SYP to Seven Wonder to Lake Rushdown to even (in some ways) Split Team. Most of these maps aren't entirely special besides the openings, especially when there is 4+ bots
