Alpha 8

Release candidate ready for testing:

Changelog > http://roadmap.gladiabots.com

====================================================================================
UPGRADE NOTE:
This version uses a new resolution engine version (due to the changes on the tagging system), which means:
  • your matches from previous versions will be deprecated and not watchable/deployable anymore
  • you will only be able to fight against players how upgraded to the same version
Upgrading is irreversible, no downgrade possible.

Immediate annoyance: it was not instantly obvious to me that I could make a new target other than "myself" for tagging . I probably should have realized this by the new layout for creating nodes, and it is probably explained in the tutorial, but meh

Also, the position of the "add new AI button seems less intuitive, and the "x" at the bottom seems less intuitive than a back arrow like previous versions

Also, why was teamplay removed?

To limit myself of "Also" per post, I will double post and ask: are there any new stats?

Good tutorial!

However, is it better to have some staged exams? When I arrive at the level "DIY", I felt that my brain was in a mess because a lot of concepts passed by, but I rarely remember any because those trainings were finished in a minute...

Hi GFX.

So there is some note about the alpha 8.

First great job for the tutorial. The only remark i can say is that you dont explain the difference between bot tag and team tag, but after some test i know that people will understand.

Last point is: what happened to the AI editor about target selection? When you select your target a lot of possibilities appear (it seems like it is all the different filter i ever select that appeared and in complete disorder)
It is very slow to open for me now... it Ill be possible to have an option in miscellaenous to back at the previous AI editor?)

PS:i like the new color and shield/health bar

Hi,

Sorry I've been gone for so long with no warning.

There's something that looks weird with the extra icons in the tutorial. It's like there are two x symbols on top of each other. One small one large.

Image

I've got additional icons on in colour blind settings.

Looks like a bug, they should only appear in the debugger.
I'll check that.

Something I noticed

1. New gameplay is more laggy, painful to watch that, can't easily grasp every moment in a match. But well, i just have not powerful PC, so maybe it's not the real problem

2. New UI is more laggy in general + when I clicked [Select a Target] in Editor, I caught very long freeze (10 to 60+ seconds, I guess), I guess it's due to rendering those icons of last used nodes or something like that, for me it's about 300+ nodes I guess, and I can't understand if those nodes are the last created ones or... if not, they just can not be used.

3. I think when you edit something, it is not so good to have such a huge UI... Maybe because when you are used to making/editing more nodes faster, have a big AI, and yet there is no much filters to check - this makes all the things way slower. I'd do that quite the opposite way, showing just one page where you can see at the same time [Target] [Condition] and [Filters] expanded and click all the things you want with as less delay as possible. In previous version it was better in my opinion, I was more annoyed by the need to scroll to the BotClass filter and the need to expand all the filter sections.

4. Lines between target and victim, maybe it's better to made them using larger elements, otherwise they'll be flickering in the eyes (like now) (But I guess this will be for only debug mode for one bot?)

5. The word "Matches" overlaps with the icon "Reload" (1080x1920 res)

6. Shield and Health bars now divided by only 4 sections, and now it's harder to compare which bot has bigger shield... though while programming it's mostly not counted, it was more obvious which bots has larger total shield/hp amounts

7. New fast match deploy is awesome, at last you don't have to wait those 3 annoying seconds
8. New graphics are cool, but different sizes of hp/sh bars make it less "harmonic" :D
9. OCD porn is absolutely approved :DDD

I have some core2duo CPU and GeForce 6800 GS (2006 year card i guess), well, before it was I think around 20-40 fps in speed mode and comfortable 30+ fps in regular mode, I use 1080x1920 + Fastest graphics mode.

Eh... Double click to select target is a pain. When I'm editing XPRMNT Alpha, that's just impossible to cope with. Also, lighten the crosses for Not filters. You can't see what's behind that cross.

Why's Bot Tag called Tag? If you want accessibility, call it Personal Tag

Instead of (,), use (OR) for accessibility. Also, a "Stop talking in English talk in Script" mode for old players.

Is the symmetry breaking problem supposed to be fixed? It still exists.

In the pictures, the full shield bots from both teams are rejoining the battlefield. Then, they have a collision with another bot, respectively. After collision, the white full shield bot is at the bottom while the red full shield bot is at the middle. The simulation becomes completely asymmetrical afterwards.

BTW, why are some nodes in debug view look like they are unconnected?

The current action bug should be fixed.
Didn't work on a solution for the collision problem.
