First impressions about the new maps

Dominance: Although the positions of resources and bases changed, the battle there is quite similar to the other 3 bots map Kingmaker. Since the scoring route is in the middle and exposed to the enemy, prioritize pushing seems to be the best. In this sense, I think that it is less strategy open than Kingmaker.

Flanking: The side wing is the key of this map. A successful flanking makes retreat problems to his opponent. However, the side wing is often too weak and get prioritized. Besides the side wing is quite close to the edge, it under the risk of falling off when flanking. The other possible ways of using the side wing is still open.

Lake Rushtown: At first look it is quite similar to SYP because of the same bot configuration. Nevertheless. It does have something counter-intuitive--escorting the balls closer to ally base is not an advantage. It is possible for the opponent to rush and steal the resources when they are escorted close to their bases. In my limited thought I believe that it makes pushing an prevailing strategy and less strategy open to others.

So in this critical review I rate: Flanking > Lake Rushtown > Dominance

I second your thoughts to the first two maps.

Dominance: close to kingmaker

Flanking: I think there will be a lot of draws. The solitary bot could be pushed to the wall easily, after that it's a classical mid-range fight.

Rushtown: I'm not so sure about your thoughts. I played out against milk and I focused on the middle resource. Scoring didn't helped me because he collected the resources from the back and brought them close to the base. After that he scored ball by ball.

So this one is a mixture between pushing, advanced collecting and you also have to handle multiple Assaults attacking at the same time. So it's my favorite at the moment.

Flanking: i still doesnt see the interest

Dominance: look good to have a symetry in diagonal but the position so close of base favorities too much fight/push than harvest ressource. at final looks like mixte of mind game and kingmaker.

Lake Rushtown: idem for position of base but more robot so you can maybe use sneaky robot to mark points

So between the three i prefer LakeRushtown

So it looks like Lake Rushtown is the winner.
I'll replace Mind Game by it in the leagues map pools.

No planned changes.
Do you want another poll for that?

That means Flanking, Dominance and Mind Game is still playable in privates. Right?

Yes.

Sounds good. IMO there is no need for changes or polls then.

Thoughts on 3 new maps after playing them?

Lake rushtown-- made me reprogram my ai, which I think is a good step towards making the game even more interesting. (Seems better to rush and ignore objectives, but needs more playtesting to be sure)

Dominance-- plays similar to Set Your Priorities, in that you have to gain control of the middle ground in order to score.

Flanking-- Actually surprised me with how fun and balanced this was.

Those are my thoughts, what did you guys think?
