here (as I post always, check the details): http://pier4r.pbworks.com/w/browse/#vie ... 2020170514

but 14 is not enough, the minimum is round about 16.

Pier, see your own stat in the last month.

You have a winning rate above 90% against elo below 1500, above 80% against elo 1500~1600. That is remarkable, but you probably should not have met them at all, should you?

Just as some complaint from other threads, many new players are exposed to the most experienced ones too soon. If there is another score barrier, the average streak length would be shortened a lot, isn't it?

Hmm I am still not sure if I follow. The idea of the streaks is the following : how long one does not get defeated, and to make it more interesting so far the top 3 longest streaks are used to compute the average.

if someone is winning a lot without losing, the streaks will be long (check the hall of fame in the first post, recently the streaks got shorter).

Of course this is a tournament that rewards strong players, not newcomers, but!

I also thought : what if there is a player winning or drawing against all the players under him in terms of score, so he is losing only to those that have an high score? (sooner or later, though, he will raise so much to be the first and therefore losing to someone with a lower score)

This is captured by the average length of streaks without counting stronger players, that you can see in the details page.

If you are pointing out something else, please explain.

Maybe you mean "players that are not so strong should not count because it is expected that they lose to a very strong player?"

That is a possible idea, like " (avg) number of games before losing to a player within 400 points of score".

Anyway this is partially captured by the direct fights tournament that compares only "top players". But the idea of the score difference limit is interesting I will consider.

I think it's more about the chances of new players and less about the tournament. The tournament is only an indicator.

Imho if there would be more players the matchmaking have to try to avoid big gaps. There is almost no fun for someone at the top to beat some poor 1500 guys. And you can see in the forum that people like to raise and getting closer to the top league.

Yes the problem of pairings with a lot of score difference is due to the little availability of players.

While the observation of Castlevania makes sense (If I got it right), so there and there one could exploit the absence of strong players to get a longer streak, it is also true that it is a bit unlikely to get more than one long streaks since I consider the average of them.

Of course, when the playerbase increases and maybe a lot of newcomers are there to be harvested, then the streak length computation has to be fixed as Castlevania suggests.

(If I did not got it right, please make an example!)

Very "short" streaks this time. That means, no one on the top is dominating the others for long.

Streaks a bit longer, somehow there was some more "dominated" moments.
