Google Play Indie Games Contest (London, 16/02/2017)

Gladiabots is among the 20 finalists of the Google Play Indie Games Contest! \o/
That's a huge opportunity for this project as it will be exposed to some VIPs of the industry.

The final event will take place in London mid-February.
I'll showcase the game and the top 10 will be elected by the jury + the attendees.
So if you can make it, it would help a lot! (and we could have a drink together)

This. And if one gets the right players (logical thinkers) then the gran master will be super hot. As it is in some periods with many hard players playing. Like now with the influx of a lot of 1650+ players.

Best event so far.
The place was amazing, a very classy art gallery in West London.

The guys from Google have been very nice and full of advices. Organization was top notch.

Once again, very positive feedback from the players (not only game devs this time) and a lot of them actually tested the game. I almost never stopped pitching the game, having to demo it on my own smartphone because the 2 provided by Google were already taken.

I still can't believe Gladiabots made it to the top 10 actually. There was so many great games in the list!
5 of them were picked by the jury and the 5 others from the event attendees. I don't know in which 5 Gladiabots was but that's amazing.

Thanks to that, I won some great gifts but the most important thing is the game is featured on the Google Play store since the awards. See the top 10 rewards:

It already had an impact on the number of new/active players: they doubled yesterday and tripled today!

BUT this featuring won't last long (one week except in UK) and the game is still free.
It really is a one shot opportunity.
That's why I'm thinking about pushing an update of 7.8 with the free demo / paid full game model in the coming days.
I'll give you more details shortly if I decide to go for it.

I wanted to know if the google team summarized the game or you (if the former, it would have awfully similar to what discussed in general discussion).

Anyway WOAH.

Mtach numbers for the 2017.02.17 around 301k , In the late evening of 2017.02.18: 309k .

8 thousand matches or more in a day! That was not happening since the first days of alpha 5.x (due to no matchmaking existing).

I mean already 1000 matches in a day is a lot. 8000 is MASSIVE.

I guess I have to watch this closely otherwise I will miss matches in the db dumps.

2 interesting parts: (a) I wonder if the server scale the requests, if the request is big enough and (b) I wonder how many hard players will come up or maybe it is just a temporary spike.

Consider that even with internet, at the end things are still widely adopted due to "mouth to mouth" or "large usage" (if many use it, I use it too) approaches. I got hooked by a suggestion of a friend, althouh google play store suggested me the game since months.

So from now on, if the game continue to appeals enough people, will snowball.
