Real-world Gladiabots Coming Soon!

Currently the first fighting robots are steered by humans. But with the rapid development of artificial intelligence, I believe there will soon be automated fighting robots! :)
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

There are few TV shows with the robots fighting each other ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot_combat ), but AFAIK all of them are remotely controlled. AIs are not allowed - at least these making decisions, some aiming algorithms can be used. The reason is that no one would let the machine to use at will a weapon potentially lethal to the spectators (even as simple as a blade).

On the other hand there is robot sumo, where independent AI is one if the keys to success. In Japan they try to design robotic football team, but I don't know: RC or AI. Gladiabots seems to be more like football than a real war.

Couldn't we play soccer with Gladiabots?
New game mode: One resource. Score to enemy base or pass it to another robot.
I don't know if this could work.

The problem with soccer style maps is: how do you rob the enemy team of a ball?

Plus the style would be pretty different from attacking the enemy, so one would need at least 2 AIs to maintain.

Otherwise I do agree that would be neat. Like having a mode where you don't destroy the enemy, but you have a better cooperation.

I also see many problems here. Just dreaming.
