Re: Who is your nemesis

Well, I'm just not making major updates or overhaul to AI... just small ones, one or two quick fixes. probably why I lose on mind game half the time. My gunner AI is crap and still left over from when I was experimenting. Consious, your shotgun/gunner rush is doing a fine job destroying my bots now....

Re: Rethink the limit of special classes

For example (if im right) The assault class can charge three rounds of bullet to one shot to act like sniper? One bot class, but has the ability via programing to use different firing modes? Could be a good solution, but would add to the learning curve. Nope, it would degenerate back to using the s...

Aiming and "Self" Filters

GFX47, would it be too much to ask for filters regarding aiming? Here's the scenario... my bots are set to attack weakest gunner in medium range first, and snipers at long range second. Lets say I'm attacking the gunner and he flees to long range with almost no health left and my bots are almost fin...

Re: Shooting while moving

I don't think it's over powered at all.

first few matches I saw this used on me didn't make much difference. I think I lost one when someone did it, that's it.

Re: What kind of player are you?

I'm not a programmer. However I was introduced to logic gates and Boolean logic through a minecraft clone called Survivalcraft. The electrical elements in Survivalcraft made Minecrafts redstone look like a gimmick and I got pretty good at utilising the electrics in that game. Using that experience, ...

Re: After some days of domination, someone went ahead of nullpointer score

MGBlitz, I remember you said somewhere you like the randomness on the accuracy. I imagine the last update let you down. Well, initially I wanted the randomness gone in alpha 4. But then once alpha 5 came out, I wasn't impressed with the battles and the way everything felt so coreographed. I've sinc...

Re: After some days of domination, someone went ahead of nullpointer score

I'll wait for the next update before I adjust my AI anymore. The problem is that there's always gonna be another update. Gameplay and balancing takes a good portion of the development time and I can predict there will be changes on that in every single release. Not always... This game is still youn...

Re: After some days of domination, someone went ahead of nullpointer score

it's not a matter of giving up, hehe. I just don't want to fight for top ranks with ever changing AI matches at close and long range. I'll leave that to you guys. I'm patient, I'll wait for the next update before I adjust my AI anymore.

Re: After some days of domination, someone went ahead of nullpointer score

I'm pretty much out until we get an update. Not fun playing and adjusting an AI every day because of the limitations of the bots strengths and rock, paper, scissors gameplay mechanics.

Re: Fixing Fancy Rock Paper Scissors

You could simplify it to degrees relative of the direction you are facing. Then you can say 90 degrees in front, behind, left, and right. But seriously, I know it's on the roadmap but we need more options so that no two AIs are alike. As it is now, EVERY AI is similar. At least in alpha 4 we had a m...

Re: Fixing Fancy Rock Paper Scissors

Well, I don't think it would be too hard to implement. Just add degrees to the distance filters for a lot of it... If self shield is 0 to 25% and... If enemy exist at short/mediun range between 315 and 45 degrees then... Move towards 90 degrees if enemy doesn't exist between 45 and 135 degrees or el...

Re: Fixing Fancy Rock Paper Scissors

I don't like it so much, doesn't seem very AI like... Instead we should just have directional scanning for enemies and more movement options to include strafing and fleeing in different directions. The AI shouldn't be limited to moving closer to and away from enemies and static locations. It should ...

Re: Fixing Fancy Rock Paper Scissors

On seven wonders and Set Your Priorities, I discovered how all snipers can beat all shotguns easily. The trick only works about 50% of the time, depending on the enemies AI. Its been tested and proven vs only the most basic shotgun AI.
