Re: Percentage chance to hit. When is it calculated?

I plotted this out, see my spreadsheet that documents the way it works: http://bit.ly/GladiabotsAttackChart

No idea, I suspect they lose money... as they only stick an single ad (usually for an amazon item for sale) up when you start up the app, it's really not much at all.

Re: [Alpha 7.9] Monetization

If you haven't considered it yet, I strongly suggest Amazon's Underground. They pay _per_ minute your apps is used. So instead of $2.50 for a user one time, you get like paid per minute so long as they use the app. (It's like $0.002 a minute, so 2 cents for 10 minutes, or 12 cents an hour, $1.20 for...

Re: How to make small steps forward?

"use full cycle of shooting to shoot," this is the hard part. There is no good way to decide that right now. There are lots of ok ways, but nothing solid. (ie shoot until shield/hit drops to fixed amount). There is NO 'shoot one round' option (yet)

Re: all/ none selection

Yeah, this would be a good improvement to the UI, for newer players. It's awkward to figure out how to route around the missing bits.
All and none are ends of a spectrum where Any is a midpoint, and so exist/not exist work but it'd be clearer if All/None were explicit conditionals.

Re: ai sense of direction.

Moving toward an item that is 'not front', will immediately MAKE it front, of course. And that "immediately" part is why I feel this whole thing is a moot point. I disagree. moving to the left or right of an object is very useful and needed. We can move toward or away, but not to the left...

Re: all/ none selection

+1... these are doable right now, but awkward. I wrote up a post on this topic, but deleted it before I submitted, because there are more pressing things to work on... You have to use exists and Not exists coupled with filters and NOT. Condition: if any ally exist who are carrying resource? If it fa...

Re: ai sense of direction.

If you really feel the "90 front" is vital, then make that be 'front' not 180... it all still works... If something is not front, but is left or right and not back, then it really is left or right but off out of the 90 angle. So there would be _6_ areas (not including exactly in front/behi...

Re: Which bot to use where?

I'm not sure it's easy or even possible to do right now... It's a multiple selection issue: Target the enemy who is being attacked by an ally who is a sniper. If possible, it's certainly a tagging solution. Written a few hours later: Duh, I'm a idiot for not thinking of it right away, take 1: requir...

Re: ai sense of direction.

I actually like the 4 directions, but picture it as 180 degree arcs for each: Front: all 180 in front of bot... fails if item is on even line with bot, or behind that line. Back: all 180 in back of bot... fails if item is on even line with bot or in front of line. Left: all 180 to left of bot, again...

Re: Which bot to use where?

"Using anything but a sniper at long range is a waste of time" Not necessarily ... Assault and machine gun hit early enough to keep shields from regenerating long enough for Sniper to take a second shot at a (still) unshielded target, which is much better than hitting a recently replenish...

Re: ai sense of direction.

+1, I agree, adding left/right is critical in my mind. We already have move toward/flee covering the front/back movements, but there is NO way to move to left or right currently, and that is the next major piece missing. Moving left or right relative to any of the existing objects we can track (ally...

Re: Put it on steam, or any other platform?

One more platform to consider is Amazon's android Underground... depending on your business model and how you plan on monetization, this might work for you... You have to offer it for free (no in app sales either), but then you get paid for every second someone is using the app. Thus you'd get paid ...

Re: Which bot to use where?

a) Mostly. I used data generated by the sheets to make the charts by hand (mostly cut/paste to make it all appear in one place with common timeline) b) Possible. That was on my list of 'cool additions', as well as items like "how quickly can the bot move from long to medium range, and thus impr...

Re: Which bot to use where?

Indeed, high compliments to GFX... well balanced indeed. I know that new folks feel like shotguns/machineguns and especially snipers are hard to win against with just assault bots... but this info says that it's not highly unbalanced in any one direction at all. Good game design. Especially if it's ...

Which bot to use where?

This is mostly self-evident, but it's nice to have some stats backing this up.... As seen from the graphs I've added to http://bit.ly/GladiabotsAttackChart Short range Short Range.png While the shotgun has the speed on its' side, damage wise, the machinegun catches up within 4 seconds (and then fall...

Brutally, beautiful, bugged, the shotgun.(unintentional)

See I think that was a totally valid use of pushing... the shotgun used the ally bot as a shield to avoid the damage, and once up close, took out all of the enemy bots swiftly.

http://bit.ly/GladiabotsAttackChart Suggestions and improvement welcomed. The sheet is dynamic (meaning if you change the input values. the sheet will update... (same formulas on each tab of sheet, one per bot type). Not that things changes in the game, but if GFX alters the stats in a future revisi...
