Re: The GateKeeper class

Interesting idea. But I think, predicting how bots will move is already hard to understand. From a strategic point of view, this opens up as many solutions as it creates problems.

Re: The ability to team tag/tag one bot at a time

I have one AI in place, that basically says: If I get under fire, untag all, and tag the bot that fired at me. The other bots have a routine that basically says: if a bot is tagged, attack it. If not, attack anything else. I could easily replace the fire leader logic with: If no one is tagged, tag o...

Re: Always regenerate machine gun

I would expect a machine gun to suppress the enemy, and keep him at a distance.

Re: Gladiabots and education

And still there are people, who are creating Tensorflow, React, etc. libraries and frameworks for you to use. Those are true programmers as opposed to Web Developers or Data Engineers. And programming is always about bit shifting to some extent. Even framework and driver developers write code diffe...

Re: Gladiabots and education

I had an interesting discussion with a teacher about how educational games depict programming. In my opinion, none of them get it right. Modern software usually has far less complex code branches than the average gladiabot, but e.g. is full of callbacks and complex return states. Most educational ga...

Re: "Else" line in condition nodes

Well, not for intantly executed actions (like tagging). And tagging actions simply don't deserve such an exception from common AI evaluation logic. Well, this bears the question why tagging behaves differently, at all. Tagging could require aiming, or could wear off, or could have a cooldown effect...

Re: Bot plotting (free movement) concept, not in game

I guess the whole point of an AI is that it can adopt to different environments. Hardcoded positions would break the whole concept.
On the other hand, relative instructions (stay away from walls/open spaces) could be interesting.

Re: How did you discover Gladiabots?

Since about three years, I am a father. Since then, I didn't have time to player multiplayer with my friends. So I investigated PBEM games, and finally asynchronous games. I discovered that steam actually has a category for this, and this was one of the games on the actually rather short list. This ...

Re: "Else" line in condition nodes

Isn't the counter-clockwise evaluation already an "else"?
Actually an elseif, I guess.

I am a junior software architect with about 13 years of professional programming experience.
Today, actually most code I write is in powershell, but I started with Java, then .NET Basic, C#, a little bit C++, F# and JavaScript

Node Connector tutorial

Hi, I'm fairly new here, so sorry for this stupid question... I am stuck in the node connector tutorial. I get the message that I should create a connector, but how? I dont see any button for this. I tried to guess any key combination... I can see from screenshots how they are supposed to look like ...
